The agency will release more details once the company has been given time to submit an action plan.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) faulted flaws in Boeing’s manufacturing process for the Alaska Airlines mid-flight airplane door panel blowout that occurred in January after finalizing a six-week audit this week. The plane was missing bolts on the outside that kept the door in place, causing the FAA to focus on Boeing’s manufacturing process.
The FAA said in its statement that there were “multiple instances when the companies allegedly failed to comply with manufacturing quality control requirements.” The agency also “identified non-compliance issues in Boeing’s manufacturing process control, parts handling and storage, and product control.”
The FAA stated it will release the entire audit after allowing Boeing time to present a plan of action to address the identified issues.
